The Undefended Heart

Jun 04, 2025

I have had two great death losses in two months, the last one last Friday.

I feel so fortunate to have a close group of girlfriends who, as soon as I returned to Noosa, gathered in to hold my heart. Both times.

When something big happens, that’s what we do. We gather. Birthdays, celebrations, and deaths. They all brought flowers and placed them together in a single large bouquet. And wrote heartfelt blessings in a card. Then we share.

A dear male friend was present, and he later said he observed how quickly women open up their feelings. One question, and we are off.

But not always.

There are two ingredients we all need to feel we can 'undefend' our heart. The first, is feeling safe. The second, a willingness to let down your guard. To know that I’m accepted. Flaws and all. To know that I’m welcomed. Flaws and all.

Women thrive in love and acceptance.

Sure. We can live in a surface-level world. Surf the veneer of materialism, consumerism, and image. Easy.

But the true depth of a woman lies in her ability to dive into the deeper underwaters of her being. At the bottom of that sea lie the things that broke free of her clutch in the flurry of a stressed life, of being busy with kids, earning money, relationships, loss, navigating the death of loved ones, illness, and a body that is changing beneath her.

Those heart, soul things she’d forgotten about.

The things that were ripped from her clasp as she floundered in the heaving sea of life. Slowly, slowly, they floated to the bottom. Lying there forgotten like jewels. A long-lost treasure. Waiting to be retrieved. Reclaimed. Returned to their right place.

At some point, a deep calling, like a distant call on the winds of her psyche, wakes her in the deep dark of night, and begs her to take the intrepid journey to dive deeper to reclaim.

There is no looking back. There is no choice. She must retrieve. She must embark. She must. She must.

Whether it’s reclaiming the shards of a shattered heart, returning like a long lost friend to your woman’s body, or simply knowing in your heart that you are on the precipice of change, and you must follow the call, the Womantime Journey gently invites you, lovingly, carefully into that place where at some point those jewels miraculously, without effort, float up to shore. They shine under the gentle tide, and you can pick them up and embed them back into your heart, your body, your beautiful mind.
